Google Translate

Google Translate runs without a Cloud API key through the visitor's browser and network.

Online SRT Subtitle Translator and Editor

Translate SRT subtitle files while preserving cue order and timestamps. SubShift reads the subtitle file in your browser, sends translation batches through the visitor's own network, presents the translated cues for review and creates a ready-to-download SRT file for video localization.

How to use this tool

  1. 1.Upload an SRT file or start with the available sample subtitle project.
  2. 2.Select one or more target languages and start the browser-based translation.
  3. 3.Review and edit translated cues, then download a separate SRT file for each language.

Key features

  • SRT parsing that preserves cue identifiers and subtitle timestamps.
  • Translation into multiple popular target languages.
  • Built-in subtitle review and text editing before download.
  • Translation requests use the visitor’s browser and network instead of the hosting server.

Frequently asked questions

Does SubShift change subtitle timing?

No. Translation replaces cue text while retaining the original start and end timestamps.

How many subtitle cues can I translate?

The interface accepts projects containing up to 1,500 cues, although smaller batches may finish more reliably on restricted networks.

Why can Google temporarily limit translation?

Google may rate-limit unusually frequent requests from a network. Waiting briefly or using a smaller file normally resolves a temporary 429 response.

Can I edit the translation?

Yes. Review the translated cues in the editor, correct wording or context and then download the updated SRT file.
